Dr. Wahls' Amazing Story! | Ozark Natural Foods

Dr. Terry Wahls, MD, is a nutritionist, fitness enthusiast, and clinical professor of medicine at the University of Iowa. So she was understandably shocked in 2000 to be diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, a progressively debilitating disease that attacks the body?s central nervous system. She was healthy, athletic, and in the prime of her life. Of all people, how could she be diagnosed with such a disease?

Across the next seven years, her health slowly deteriorated, eventually confining her to a specialized wheelchair where she lived, ate, and slept.

Fearful of becoming permanently bedridden ? and of losing her job ? Dr. Wahls explored many options for curing herself of MS, including pharmaceutical drugs, vitamins, and chemotherapy. Nothing slowed the painful advance of MS. The situation seemed hopeless.

Desperate for results, in late 2007 she had what she called her ?epiphany.? What if, she thought, I could cure myself from the inside out? Her research led her to create the Wahls Diet, which consists only of natural, high nutrient, unprocessed foods.

The results were remarkable. Within a year of starting the diet, Dr. Wahls was able to resume walking comfortably around the hospital on her rounds without any assistance, and even ride her bike to work every day. Doctors who had known her for the past seven years were incredulous.

It is true that fresh, all-natural meat and produce is often more expensive than mass-produced food. But as Dr. Wahls? story shows, saving a few dollars by purchasing junk food can have much more expensive effects in the long run. Either you can pay a little bit more now, she says ? or you might pay a lot more in the future.

Dr. Wahls recently told her inspiring story, which she calls ?Eating for your Mitochondria,? in a TED Talk. You can watch it here.

Your diet is an investment in your future. Invest wisely. Visit Ozark Natural Foods for fresh, nutritious, affordable products that will change your life for the better!
